PRP Injections
PRP Research
Dr. Kennedy strives to be at the forefront of foot and ankle research. While the basic science behind Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections has been known for some time, this is a new application in the field of orthopaedics. PRP can serve as a useful treatment option for any patient with varying degrees of cartilage, ligament, and tendon injuries. Furthermore, athletes may particularly benefit from PRP by returning them to competition without the need for extensive surgery and time consuming rehabilitation. With that said, PRP is not the "cure all" potion for everyone with any injury. Your surgeon will ultimately decide whether a PRP injection may serve as a useful treatment strategy for your specific injury.
Dr. Kennedy is currently doing extensive work with PRP in his office and research laboratory. While Dr. Kennedy has seen very promising results with the use of PRP, and excellent results in many instances, these results need to be characterized formally and scientifically in the medical literature. Beginning in the very near future, Dr. Kennedy will be conducting a large-scale, multi-center clinical trial of PRP injections in the treatment of Achilles tendinosis. Please check back soon for further information on this.
